Campaign-Buttons Flag
1880-1976
Composed of various red, white, and blue political buttons
This "button flag" of 1,603 political campaign buttons, mostly from state and local elections, was created for the Smithsonian's Nation of Nations exhibit. The buttons, dating from the 1880s through 1976, show the multiplicity of candidates, elective offices, issues, and parties in American politics.
