Native American Seed Pot
1990
Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico
Crafted by Rosemary "Apple Blossom" Camilia Lonewolf, this tiny etched ceramic seed pot features a fanciful scene that includes, among other things, a space shuttle in flight. Native Americans of the Southwest have long kept such pots to protect their seeds from rodents, insects, and mildew. The use of spaceships as pot decorations, needless to say, is a more recent development.
