Rumely 20-40 Oil Pull Tractor
1920s-1940s

Starts on gasoline, runs on kerosene, oil-cooled
John Ploesch purchased this Rumely Oil Pull tractor on July 13, 1923, from the Advance-Rumely dealer in Woodbine, IL. He paid $4,000 for it. From 1923 to 1948, this machine was part of Ploesch's threshing ring operation in the farm country surrounding the Illinois towns of Elizabeth and Woodbine. Rings were made up of local farmers who helped each other thresh their grain in a timely fashion. Threshing time was often the biggest social event in the farming calendar.
