Coverlet
1840s-1850s
Mid-19th century bed cover
This American single woven coverlet was made in Pennsylvania sometime between 1840 and 1850. The blue warp yarns are cotton, and the weft yarns--dark green, olive, dark blue, and red--are wool. The coverlet is unusual in that there are no white yarns in either the warp or weft.
