Cherokee Nation Bank Note
1862

Native American currency during the Civil War
Partly written in the Cherokee language, this bank note was issued by the Cherokee Nation in 1862, midway through the Civil War. Cherokee notes were redeemable in Confederate currency--in this case, 50 cents.
