"The man of steel"
Battling for "truth, justice, and the American way," Superman first appeared in Action Comics in June 1938. He later became the protagonist of a radio show, a Broadway musical, animated-film cartoons, a television series, and motion pictures. For many, however, the "man of steel" remains first and foremost a comic-strip superhero.
